Introduction
This project involved creating new designs for the café's cups and tote bags, reflecting their high-end, luxurious brand while emphasizing environmentally friendly and sustainable choices. To align with Bisou Bake House's commitment to sustainability, I aimed to redesign our coffee cups to not only maintain our brand's high standards of quality and aesthetics but also significantly reduce our environmental footprint. I have used new materials to make the paper coffee cups more environmentally friendly and sustainable. With our new slogan, "Baking a Better Future," we strive to encapsulate this dedication to both exquisite taste and environmental responsibility.
Research
The primary objective of this redesign was to develop eco-friendly coffee cups that would minimize waste and promote sustainability without compromising on the luxurious experience Bisou Bake House is known for. In addition to designing biodegradable coffee cups and lids made from PLA (Polylactic Acid), I also created reusable coffee cups and designed tote bags to reduce the use of paper bags. These initiatives aim to further reduce environmental impact and promote a sustainable lifestyle among our customers. I decided to change the materials used for the coffee cup lids to biodegradable materials. As a result, the color was changed to off-white.
Reseach an Inspiration
For the redesign of Bisou Bake House's marketing materials, I conducted extensive research to ensure the designs not only resonate with the brand's luxurious and high-quality image but also align with environmental sustainability goals. This research included studying specific guidelines and recommendations from credible sources to inform my design choices.
- University of British Columbia (UBC) Environmental Guidelines:
UBC's comprehensive guidelines on sustainability provided a solid foundation for incorporating environmentally responsible practices into the design. Their recommendations on reducing waste and utilizing recyclable materials were particularly influential in my approach to the redesign. - British Columbia Government Resources:
The provincial government's resources on sustainability and environmental protection offered valuable insights into local regulations and best practices. This information ensured that the redesigned products would meet and exceed regional environmental standards. - CBC News Article
CBC's coverage of CBC News Articles helped me stay informed about the latest developments and public sentiments regarding sustainability. These articles highlighted the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly products, reinforcing the importance of integrating these principles into Bisou Bake House's marketing materials.
